وأعلن تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية مسؤوليته عن هجوم برلين بينما ردد المسلح في تركيا عبارات عن الحرب في سوريا فيما كان يطلق النار على سفير موسكو التي ساعدت الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد في الحرب الأهلية ضد مقاتلي المعارضة.
وسأل صحفيون ترامب خارج منتجعه في مار-إيه-لاجو في بالم بيتش بفلوريدا يوم الاربعاء إذا كانت أعمال العنف يوم الاثنين ستؤثر على تفكيره في فرض حظر على دخول المسلمين للولايات المتحدة أو تسجيل المهاجرين من دول مسلمة.
وأثناء حملته الانتخابية دعا ترامب لفرض حظر مؤقت على دخول المسلمين للبلاد كوسيلة لمحاربة الإرهاب الأمر الذي قوبل بانتقادات على نطاق واسع في الداخل والخارج. وأعاد ترامب في وقت لاحق صياغة هذا المقترح ليصبح تعليقا مؤقتا للهجرة من مناطق تعتبر مُصدرة للإرهاب.
